About Us

It is our pleasure to introduce you to Parkland Mews where Manitoba’s Peregrine Falcon Recovery Plan is being implemented. We are located in a park-like setting rich in biodiversity on the outskirts of Winnipeg, Manitoba. The landscape includes a variety of habitat types, comprising of river bottomland forest to mixed grass meadows, and a wetland that borders onto agricultural terrain. These various habitat types make up the natal area for young Peregrines that are released from the Parkland Mews tower. The ancient art of falconry plays a dominant role in the release process.

Founded in 1994 by husband and wife team, Robert and Nancy Wheeldon, the organization’s mandate is “Bird of prey conservation through education, fieldwork, and wise stewardship”.

Our charitable status and partnership with the Wildlife Branch of the Manitoba Government and the University of Manitoba, provides a cooperative approach to helping preserve the Peregrine in Manitoba.
